HSHC-Corp-OfficeHome Sweet Home Care Inc. was founded in 2004 by Shirley McGee, President. We serve the Greater Hampton Roads area, and we are a local Tidewater business employing local employees. We have clients in Isle of Wight, Smithfield, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Williamsburg and York counties. Our office is located at 346 Main Street, Smithfield, VA and our business hours are from 9-5; M-F. Home Sweet Home Care employees are what makes our company great!

HSHC Caregivers and PCAsWe have dedicated caregiver employees who work whatever hours you need and deliver high-quality Companion or PCA care 24/7. In addition to our employee caregivers, we have an efficient and dedicated office staff. At least one staff member is “on call” for our clients 24/7 so that both clients and employees can reach us if needed.

Mary Powell

Mary Powell HSHCMary Powell is the Director of Operations at Home Sweet Home Care Inc. She oversees the hiring, training and compliance of employees working in the office and the field. She is Certified Dementia Practitioner® and is likely the first person you will meet. She completes most intake assessments of new clients. Mary’s primary goal is to ensure that clients are matched perfectly to the employee caregiver that meets their needs. She is also responsible for ensuring that caregivers deliver the high-quality care that Home Sweet Home Care Inc. prides itself on providing. Her secondary goal is to ensure the office operates smoothly and is able to support the employee caregivers in the field. She does this through the development and deployment of strong policies and procedures, training and coaching.

Mary was born and raised in Iowa and has lived in Virginia for the last 22 years.  Mary has experience working in the insurance field, conference planning, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and the American Red Cross. In 2012, she joined Home Sweet Home Care as a scheduling coordinator.  She quickly became immersed in and intrigued by the industry. Her skills in small business management were invaluable to Shirley and she was promoted to Director of Operations in 2015.

Mary resides in Zuni with her youngest son Jackson who is a student at Windsor High School.  Her oldest son Nicholas is a college student at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland.  Both of her sons are athletes so her spare time is spent attending basketball and football games to proudly cheer them on.  She loves the leisurely pace of country life and all that it entails – including raising her pig George Washington and her goat Feta!

Whatever you need, Mary will be there, cheerfully doing her best to find a solution to the problem you are facing!

Shannon Wise

Shannon Wise HSHCShannon Wise is the Scheduling Supervisor at Home Sweet Home Care Inc. Shannon is responsible for scheduling all client hours and communicating those schedules to the employee caregivers. When an employee needs time off or a client needs to increase, decrease, or change their schedule, Shannon manages those logistics and keeps everything running smoothly.

Shannon started working at a young age. Her first job was for McDonald’s at 15, and she worked there for three years before taking a position with Food Lion as an Office Manager. She joined Home Sweet Home Care Inc in 2013. Shannon is very dedicated to helping others and will tell you, “I love what I do and love helping others in every which way I can.”

Shannon has two children, Thomas “TT” Waters, Jr. and Shynece Waters. She is very proud of both of them. Shannon was born and raised in West Point Virginia and currently lives in Zuni Virginia.

Stephanie Jensen

Stephanie Jensen HSHCStephanie Jensen is the Procurement Officer and is in charge of purchasing at Home Sweet Home Care. She is also in responsible for billing of long term care insurance, and ensuring all paperwork for caregivers and clients are complete, updated and organized. She joined Home Sweet Home Care in 2009 as an administrative assistant.  Her main goal is to ensure Home Sweet Home Care Inc.’s staff has everything they need so that the office can run as smooth as possible.

Stephanie lives in Newport News with her son, whom she says “is an amazing 6 year old and is my world.”  She graduated from Christopher Newport University in May 2005 with a BS in Governmental Administration with a concentration in criminal justice.  In her free time she loves to hang out with friends and family and just relax.

Desiree Turner

Desiree Turner HSHCDesiree Turner is a part-time employee at HSHC. She usually works in the afternoons checking timesheets, answering phones, and helping out where needed.

She is a native of Montana and spent the last 7 years in South Dakota.  She and her husband just moved to Smithfield in March. Desiree is a graduate of Montana State University and has a BS in Horticulture. She is working on a new career and is currently enrolled at ECPI in Newport News in the Dental Assistant program.  Desiree has been married about 6 months. She and her husband have 2 dogs that they call their fur-kids. Desiree and her husband spend their free time exploring on their motorcycles, kayaking and camping.


Jason Massenburg

Jason Massenburg HSHCJason Massenburg joined Home Sweet Home Care in 2013.  He provides administrative support to Stephanie and Shannon.  He helps put together the envelopes for mailing and billing to make things faster for the office.  He also helps us get paycheck stubs out, puts packets together, and many other tasks.

Jason currently resides in Smithfield.  His mom also works for HSHC as companion caregiver.

We have one more unique staff member who is not shown. You can learn a little bit more about him, if you like, his name is Chase Jensen.
