HSHC Supporting Alzheimer’s in August

alzheimher's walkHome Sweet Home Care Inc. actively supports both training in Alzheimer’s and fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association throughout the year. One of our continuous efforts is the training we provide to our employees and the free online, Family Caregiver training we provide to the public. If you are a family caregiver and have not checked our or online training, we encourage you to do so.

Additionally we participate in events that raise funds for the Alheimer’s Association, outreach or training and education. Two of those local events that are just around the corner are the Boomers and Beyond Bachelor Auction on August 11th and Hot Topics in Dementia Care on August 9th.

If you are attending the Boomers and Beyond Bachelor Auction on Thursday, August 11th at TopGolf in Virginia Beach, you can meet Shannon Wise and Des Turner there! They will be volunteering at the event in support of the effort to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Home Sweet Home Care is also sending seven employees for a day of training on “Hot Topics in Dementia Care” being put on by the Alzheimer’s Association on August 9th.

Topics include:

1.)  Compare/Contrast different types of Dementia
2.)  Managing Behaviors and Preserving Identity
3.) Enriching and Engaging Through the Arts
4.)  The Trajectory of Alzheimer’s Research
5.)  Caring for You – The Art of Mindfulness
6.)  Community Resources – Help When you Need it.

This course is provided by Thomas Nelson Community College and Paul D. Camp Community College and is eligible for CEU’s.

In the near future we have another fundraising effort for Alzheimer’s Association that we will announce soon. Please keep an eye on our website or our Facebook page for details on this event. Like us on Facebook to hear all our latest news.
